Reception

This is the area you first meet when contacting the hospital. These people have many tasks. The first is to manage your phone calls, questions and concerns. They greet you upon arriving at the hospital and get all your paperwork organized for your appointment. They also service the over the counter products and prescription foods. They are like the traffic police of the hospital.

Patti

Patti has been working with Dr. Usher for the past 24 years. When she is not at work,she enjoys: traveling and photography.         Patti has two cats and two parrots.

Danielle

Danielle is a RVT graduate of the Ridgetown College in 2011 who has been working in the veterinary field for over 10 years. This included all aspects of technical procedures, emergency work and reception duties which will be her primary roles here at UAH. Lucky us!

As a RVT she enjoys client education and the bond between pets and their people. When not at work she enjoys cat snuggles from her two cats and relaxing with her fiance while reading or watching movies.

 

Danielle

Registered Veterinary Technicians They help the Veterinarians with the appointments, trying to make it as comfortable for you and your pets while in the exam room. They are also responsible for all the nursing care for pets in the hospital for the day and overnight. They draw blood samples, manage intravenous fluids and medications, take radiographs, monitor animals throughout surgery, and post operatively. They work in the lab area analyzing blood and urine samples taken. They are responsible for the comfort of the animals in the hospital, so they direct the assistants in their tasks.

 Allison

Allison graduated from Seneca College in 2000 and became registered in June 2000. She started her career in Emergency Medicine and Critical care. Allison worked in a veterinary ICU setting for 13 years. The last few years she has enjoyed working in preventative medicine.

When not at work, she enjoys hanging out with her two rescued kitties Finn and Frankie. She also enjoys being a foster parent for Toronto Humane Society.

Robyn

Robyn has been working at Usher Animal Hospital since April 2015 and became a Registered Veterinary Technician shortly after. She graduated from the veterinary technician program at Sheridan College in 2014 and is currently living in Brampton. She has four lively dwarf hamsters and one cat named k-c. In her spare time she likes to work on personal art projects and explore the city.

Vanessa

Vanessa is a registered veterinary technician and she joined our team in November 2015. Vanessa brings 8 years of experience and has spent over half of her career practicing emergency veterinary medicine.  Her favourite areas of vet medicine include small animal rehabilitation and preventative client education. In her spare time, she races go karts in an karting league just north of Toronto. While at home she enjoys cuddles from her duck tolling retriever Tucker and her 3 cats: Mango, Moxie and Trouble.

Veterinary Assistants

These people are responsible for the care and comfort while animals are in the hospital. They clean kennels, make sure dogs go for walks, clean litter pans, feed the pets, monitor eliminations and keep the hospital clean (no easy chore). They also assist the technicians during their tasks. They work in shifts so that the hospital is one of a few, in all of Toronto, that has overnight supervision.

Dustin

Dustin grew up on his father’s Dairy farm with over 100 cattle, many cats, and 1 dog. He attended the Lanark Animal Welfare Society as part of his high school co-op program which helped him prep for his post-secondary education. Dustin attended Sheridan College for the Animal Care program where he graduated with honors in 2012. In his spare time, he enjoys a number of hobbies from reading, writing, gaming, and he is a big movie/tv buff. He lives in Toronto with his adorable and energetic cat, Raven

NACHELY

Nachely has been working on Usher Animal Hospital since July 2015. Moved to Toronto in 2007 also grew up in Puerto Rico on a small farm, since a young age she learned to take care of chickens, horses, cows, dogs and cats. Although her education background was focused  on graphic design and animation, on the back of her mind she always had a passion to take care of animals. In her spare time she likes to bake and read. She is married and have a beautiful daughter, also she have two adorable shih tzus a father and his son Snowy and Bartolo.

 
Nachley

Erik

Erik has been an animal lover his whole life. Even as a toddler, he wanted to be a dog when he grew up. When he was 12, he began volunteering at a local veterinary clinic and after 2 years, he was then hired to be an Animal Care Attendant. Erik studied Fish and Wildlife Technology at Fleming College and has volunteered with various animal rescues across the Greater Toronto Area. Pictured is Erik with his two cats, Nipper and Kyo

 Rhys

Rhys is our overnight attendant, caring for all of our patients (whether they are boarding or being hospitalized) while the clinic is closed. Rhys has been at UAH since 2012, having previously worked in a variety of other domestic animal and wildlife care positions. He attended Fleming College in 2010 for Fish and Wildlife Technician and is currently a Pre-Service Firefighter student at Centennial College. In his spare time he enjoys reading, going to movies and spending time with his 14 year old tabby cat, Chloe.

Food Inspectors

Scooter and Rudy are the hospital’s food inspectors. Their job at the clinic is to taste test the food and to ensure that the patients are well fed while in the hospital.  When they are not working, they enjoy a good brush and bird watching.

Groomer

The groomer has the “hairiest” job in the hospital. Cutting, trimming, bathing and drying the pets in for their “spa” day.
